Patch brings Carnival of the Ascended, Class Overhauls

It's that time again! We have had the opportunity to test changes and content brought with the "Carnival of the Ascened" patch, the culmination of Patch 1.7 and a prelude Patch 1.8. There are many exciting changes, so lets get started!

Carnival of the Ascended hits Telara

First off, Rift will be celebrating its one year birthday with an in-game event called "Carnival of the Ascended". This events starts off with preparing Telara for the upcoming celebrations. Included are weekly and daily repeatable quests as well as games and prizes.

But beware! As everyone knows, not all is well in Telara. Celebrations get cut short by vandals and unruly crowds. This leads to rumors of war and hostilities once again break out between the factions. As always, the dragon cults will take advantage of the situation to make life even harder.
Players will have daily, weekly and raid quests to attempt to put down the hostilities. As hostilities grow, players will have daily, weekly and raid quests to earn plat and Glass Beads.

Glass Beads can be used to purchase companions and upgrades as with any other world event. In addition, titles for each phase can also be purchased. If you've had your fill of beads, turn them in for prize tickets for even more fun stuff!

In addition to the Carnival of the Ascended, many sweeping class and game mechanics changes were made. Nimble mounts had their level requirement reduced to 25 and many quality-of-life changes were made to the user interface.

Class Changes

In class changes, Saboteur Rogues saw the heaviest changes and were basically re-worked from the ground up. Trion states they want to make this class a bit more competitive for AoE DPS.

For Mages, the Stormcaller tree saw some changes (and a soul point reset) which would increase their overall PvE DPS and several Warlock mechanics were reworked for an overall DPS increase. Also, Chloromancers saw an increase in the duration of Lianes desséchantes.

For Clerics, Druids saw some reworks with the removal of and a new ability called Fae Step which will allow Druids to teleport up to 20 yards to their target. Justicars saw several changes for an overall buff to Cleric tanks.

As always, Warriors have seen some rather heavy changes while Trion works to balance this calling.

Please remember as always that these changes are being tested and are subject to change prior to going live. We will bring you further updates and announcements as they become available.
