I just installed Java 8 on my system and have confirmed it shows up under my list of programs. I'm still getting error message when I try to load Magelo Sync.

Any suggestions how to fix?

I have solved the issue with my magelo sync.
when installed magelo links where pointing to magelosync64 which for some reason (even though I have Java 64 installed) doesnt run.

changing the links to magelosync instead successfully rain magelo for me. now i just need to wait for the update to address todays patch.

Make sure you have installed the 64bit JRE edition, this is likely the issue.
