Maybe I am missing something when I use the thingie at the bottom ... But when I put in a search for Diamond ... I get everything BUT just a plain old Diamond (which is used in tradeskills). Am I doing something wrong? Why can't I just get Diamond? (BTW it's isn't "a diamond", so I'm not sure if it only shows so many search results starting with "a" or "an" before it gets to the plain "diamond")

Not missing something...Right now, the search does not return the exact match first. As far as one term is an exact match, it will weight the same as the exact match (no additional term). I will look into it as it should be possible to improve that.
