Newb question - Can I update the location of a quest NPC without actually killing it?

Magelo Sync will detect specific information on the NPCs that you interact with. For the location, you need only to view or con the NPC. To get its loot table, however, will require killing and looting it.

To get the loot table, you only need to look at the loot window, you don't actually need to loot anything.
